Rajamouli Agrees That He’s Copy Cat

on Aug 5, 2015

I haven’t copied the whole of a film or my full work is not a copy. But there are some scenes and shots which I might have copied”, said Rajamouli, while speaking with a leading Telugu news channel the other day. Looks like Jakkanna wants to agree in a half that he has copied shots, but confirmed that he never lift stories or other ideas from anywhere.

As people are continuously talking about the Baahubali infant-hand poster and those scenes that showcase Tamanna as a flying angel in Dheevara song, and the total water falls elements as copied ones from few foreign language films, Rajamouli decides to give an answer. He stated, “I’ve actually copied that shot where Sivudu is made to land his foot on Kattappa’s head from a Hollywood film Genghis Khan (1965 release), but none noticed it. However, they are creating scene what is supposed to be a common idea”.

In the first place why does Rajamouli wants to copy shots in that case? “From childhood I’ve grown up watching many Hollywood films. Somehow those shots come to my mind automatically and I’ll use the aesthetically wherever they fit”, he said. Well, on that note, he agreed that he’s copy cat. But his “Baahubali” is a magnificent creation that stormed into 500 crore club anyway.
