Pak heroine's role in SRK's film chopped

on Dec 3, 2016

Shah Rukh Khan recently announced the grand trailer release of his much-awaited action thriller 'Raees' on December 7th. News just coming in suggests that the role of the lead actress has been cropped in the film. According to reports Pakistani actress Mahira Khan's role in Raees has been cut short.  A source is quoted as saying while Mahira plays SRK's love interest, it is not a romantic film. The film revolves around the conflict between Shah Rukh who plays a bootlegger and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who plays a cop. So, it wasn't difficult to trim her role. According to a source close to the development, Mahira had two songs but will now have to be content with just the one that has already been canned. A romantic sequence between SRK and her has also been chopped off. Post the Uri attacks and a ban on Pakistani actors working in India, this development hasn't come as a surprise. Recently, Fawad Khan, who was promoted as a parallel lead in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil's trailer had to see his role going for a toss by the time the film released. And Mahira might face a similar fate in Rahul Dholakia's upcoming gangster drama. Raees will release worldwide on January 26, 2017.
