Majnu was a big speed break for Nani who was in career best form with hits. Nenu Local teasers and trailer were well received. Keerthy Suresh is one of the most sought after actresses in South right now. Director Trinadha Rao Nakkina’s last movie Cinema Chupistha Mava was a super hit. Above all, Nenu Local is produced under successful production house of Sri Venkateswara Creations. Let’s see whether the film has potential to do wonders at box office…

Story:

Babu (Nani) is a happy go lucky guy falls flat for a beautiful girl Keerthi (Keerthy Suresh) who decides to marry guy of her father’s choice. When, Keerthi almost concludes to accept Babu‘s love, Siddharth Varma (Naveen Chandra) makes an entry as a police officer. Siddharth actually works hard for four years to become cop only to please Keerthy’s father to marry her. Conflict between Babu and Naveen is rest of the story.

Positives:

1. Nani, Keerthy Suresh

2. Dialogues

3. Music

4. Adequate entertainment

Negatives:

1. Formulaic Story

2. Methodic Screenplay

3. Boring Second Half

4. Naveen Chandra

Analysis:

Though his last film Majnu was a commercial flop, Nani is obviously a minimum guaranteed hero with good fan base in youth, especially college-going girls. Rather experimenting, he opted to a regular story. The film has shades of Idiot, Cinema Chupistha Mava. However, it is still a watchable because of Nani’s screen presence, Keerthy Suresh’s charm, Prasanna Bezawada’s hilarious and emotional dialogues and Devi Sri Prasad’s music. Nani is show stealer of the film. In fact, whole movie runs on the characterization and attitude of Nani. While first half of the movie was entertaining with uproarious sequences, second half was a bit boring. The shopping mall episode where Nani explains Keerthy Suresh how artificial an earning man’s life was torturing. Director should have modified second half as conflict between Nani and Naveen Chandra which would make the film more engaging.

Artists Performances:

Nani is a gift to Tollywood. He is trying something different in every film. His dialogue modulation, body language, attitude, comedy timing and dances were simply superb. He was equally good in comedy and emotional sequences. Though his character resembles that of Ravi Teja’s in Idiot and Raj Tarun’s in Cinema Chupistha Mava, he could impress with his style of acting. Keerthy Sresh was gorgeous. Although Nani dominates the show, Keerthy makes her presence felt with her simple acting. Naveen Chandra was wasted completely. While interval bang was good with Naveen Chandra introduced in powerful character. He makes no impact in second half. This character appears feeble and helpless. Posani Krishna Murali and Easshwari Rao were entertaining as Nani’s parents. Sachin Khedekar was okay and Rao Ramesh was good in a brief role. Other artists played their roles efficiently.

Technical Aspect:

Trinadha Rao seems to have stuck to a formula. Hero’s characterization, screenplay, heroine father character are identical to his last directorial Cinema Chupistha Mava. Once again, he was completely supported by dialogue writer Prasanna who penned some hilarious and sensitive dialogues. Though few dialogues were lengthy, they don’t spoil flow as they come from Nani’s voice. Shopping complex and climax episode writing was bad. Devi Sri Prasad has provided hummable tunes and re-recording too was captivating. Cinematography by Nizar Shafi was vibrant. Production values are top notch.

Verdict:

Nani makes magic even with simple concepts. Though Nani Local story isn’t fresh, Nani made it a watchable with his stellar show. The film has good chances to become a hit.
