Positives:

1. Brahmins And Dharna Episodes
2. Music
3. Balakrishna

Negatives:

1. Old Story
2. Boring Narration
3. Weak Production Values
4. Brahmanandam

Analysis:

Jai Simha is a hero centric film. Director created curiosity in the beginning with an episode of Balakrishna eloping with a newborn baby of Nayanthara from hospital. Prakash Raj is shown as her father. Balakrishna changes many places until he feels Kumbakonam is the safest place for the kid. He is given shelter in a Temple Dharmakartha Murali Mohan’s house. All the episodes of Brahmanandam and gang in the house are torturous. In order to save Murali Mohan’s daughter, Balakrishna admits to have committed a crime. This leads him rivalry with local don Prabhakar. Brahmins episode at police station is the best in the movie. Then, a fight at temple is a treat for Balakrishna mass fans. Interval bang is good. Second half starts in flashback mode. A political leader stages Dharna at main center in Vizag and Balakrishna teaches him a good lesson. This dharna episode is other highlight portion in the movie. Since then, we hardly find any entertainment. The entire second half is narrated in very old style. Movie ends with Balakrishna finishing all his enemies.

Artists Performances:

Balakrishna steals the show with his excellent performance. Though he looked great in the getup in second half, he looked weird in second half with a bad wig. His dialogue delivery in key portions like Brahmins and Dharna is a big asset. Nayanthara looked traditional and she played her role with perfection. Haripriya was just okay in terms of looks and acting. Natasha Doshi provided glamor feast. Brahmanandam is biggest drawback. Prakash Raj was good as school teacher. Other artists were okay.

Technical Aspect:

M Ratnam who provided wonderful dialogues for few of Balakrishna films has penned dialogues as well as story. Actually, he picked an outdated story, though dialogues were good here and there. KS Ravikumar has failed to give right justice to his assignment. His making was in 80’s style. Chirantan Bhatt’s music is captivating. Though songs are fine, BGM was above par. Ram Prasad’s cinematography was just okay. Praveen Antony’s editing work is also feeble. Production values of CK Entertainments are just average.

Verdict:

Jai Simha is only for Balakrishna fans who love mass elements. Normal audience may not like the movie.
