Winter Special Sarso ka saag





Mustard leaves/ Sarso            - 1-2 bunch
Spinach                                     - 1/2 bunch
Capsicum                                  - 2 medium
Tomato                                      - 2 big
Onion                                        - 2
Ginger                                      - 1 small piece
Garlic                                       - 15-20 cloves
Spring onion                            - 1/2 bunch
Green chilli                               - 1
Cumin Seeds                          -1 tsp
Coriander powder                  - 1 tsp
Red chili powder                   - 1 tsp
Garam masala                      - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida                            - 1/2 tsp
Salt and lemon to taste
Butter                                      - 4 tbsp to top
Oil                                           - 1 tbsp


First clean all the vegetables including the green leafy vegetables. Wash and chop onion, tomato, garlic, ginger, capsicum,green chilli and spinach. In a pressure cooker, add all chopped veggies, some salt and cook for one whistle. Switch the flame on medium and cook for another 3-4 whistles. Now Switch off the flame and let it cool down. Once it cools down grind it to a paste. Take some oil in a pan , add asafetida, cumin powder, all the spices and add the above mix. On low flame cook for 20-25 minutes while keeping it covered. Serve it hot with makkai ki roti and achar.
