Padmabhushan Dr. K.J. Yesudas to perform Live at TANA Convention



19th TANA Convention Arrangements related to the TANA Convention to be held in Dallas, TX at Dallas Convention Center from May 24-26, 2013 (memorial day weekend) are in full swing and over 300 volunteers are gearing up with full speed to deliver unprecedented programs to showcase the glory of the Telugu. TANA, founded in 1977, is one of the oldest and the largest Indo-American national-level organizations. Telugu Association of North Texas (TANTEX), established in 1986 a Dallas based vibrant organization is co-hosting this Convention.





Prasad Thotakura, President of TANA stated that “The unique voice of Padmabhushan Dr. K.J. Yesudas to be heard at the 19th TANA Convention in Dallas for the first time in the history of any Telugu conventions. The legendary singer Dr. K. J. Yesudas has agreed to perform live at the 19th TANA convention. The celebrated singer has recorded over 50,000 songs and has won scores of accolades including seven national awards and forty three times the state awards for the best playback singer, which consists of awards by the state governments of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and West Bengal. He has recorded more than 50,000 songs in most of the Indian languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Bengali, Gujarati, Oriya, Marathi, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tulu, Malay, Russian, Arabic, Latin and English during a career spanning five decades. In 2011, Dr. K. J. Yesudas was honored with the CNN-IBN outstanding achievement award for being India's celestial singer having recorded over 50,000 songs in a five-decade career. This is the rarest and the greatest opportunity for our TANA Convention attendees to meet, listen to the melodious music of Dr. K. J. Yesudas and cherish those moments forever”

Over 300 Volunteers working round the clock


More than 300 volunteers met over the weekend at FunAsiA to review the progress of the convention. Murali Vennam, Convention Coordinator introduced more than 30 various committee chairs who in turn briefed their committees progress. 19th TANA Convention Organizing Committee lead by Prasad Thotakura, TANA President, Murali Vennam, Convention Coordinator, Ram Yalamanchili, TANA Secretary, Manju Kanneganti, TANA SW RR, Chalapathi Rao Kondrakunta, TANA Convention Secretary, Dr. C.R. Rao, TANA Convention Treasurer, Dr. Navaneetaha Krishna Gorrepati, TANA Convention Chair and Dr. Raghavendra Prasad, Convention Advisory Committee Chair and Suresh Manduva, TANTEX (host committee) President addressed the gathering and expressed their joy over the unprecedented arrangements and thanked all donors, sponsors and hundreds of volunteers who are spending countless of hours to have a memorable convention.
