TAL Conducted Winter Sports

Usually London winter means a bit of hibernation in life but, for the first in London Telugu people’s history, Telugu Association of London (TAL) has conducted Winter Sports 2012 in which hosted a Grand Chess Tournament and Badminton Men’s Doubles Trophy in London. As Indians, we are proud to have a Chess Grand Master and Badminton Stars like Pullela Gopichand and Saina Nehwal, Telugu people in London now have players whom need to be proud of.

 

 

TAL has conducted Chess Tournament on Saturday 28th Jan 2012 in association with a Chess Academy that is 110 years old and has world class arbitrators. Players were divided into 4 teams named as Vishwanath, Anand, Hampi and Harikrishna.

 

Ms. Chetana was the winner in juniors section and Mr. Rajashekar was the winner in seniors section. The chess academy arbitrators praised the intelligent game of our Telugu players and hard work and efforts of TAL sports trustee Sanjay Bhiraju & chess subcommittee members Rajesh and Krishna. TAL Chairman, Sreedhar Vanam, declared the opening of Telugu Chess foundation on this historic occasion and chess will be taught in TCCs from now onwards so requested parents to join their children.

 

 

On the following day 29th January 2012, TAL has woken up for the big turnout of Badminton players early to compete. Total 36 doubles teams (72 players) participated which is a highest number of its kind to play in one place in Hounslow, London. After a long day of playing against each other finally, Krisna & Tillu Team and Sudhakar & Kamal's teams competed for the Trophy in finals. And the Trophy was won by Mr. Krishna and Mr. Tillu marking the completion of the tournament.

 

The full Sports day was enjoyed thoroughly and was sponsored by Tabla restaurant and Annapoorna Sonamasoori Rice Company. TAL Chairman has congratulated winners and thanked the team, in charge Sanjay and Sudhakar for their efforts in making it as a grand success.

 

 

 

TAL Chairman, Sreedhar Vanam, Vice chairman Mahesh Chadalawada, Founder President and advisor Dr. Ramulu graced the occasion and given presented the Trophy to the winners and certificates for all participants.Also brings out a colorful cultural souvenir “Maa Telugu” (means Our Language) every year with works from various artists, authors, writers,  scientists, professionals, students, business community etc... We also encourage the artists  by grandly felicitating and respecting their work by commissioning “Cultural Excellence Award” and “Life Time Achievement Award” every year. I am very pleased to say that 7 eminent people received life time achievement awards in due recognition to their dedication for the very development of the fellow humans and society in Britain and 14 both local and international artists received Cultural excellence and appreciation awards.

 

 

Throughout the year along with our other charitable, social, women's, sporting and youth activities TAL also provide opportunities for cultural sharing and skills development through our international arts performance and exchange program on various international Stages in and around London. We support cultural practitioners, for example in the areas of music and dance, literature to have their work appreciated by others and their concerns staged and propagated at a local and global level. We are making every attempt to understand and develop projects to foster greater respect and understanding between different identities in London, particularly in the areas of education, music, dance, linguistics, sports etc... As part of our curriculum we celebrate Children's day in aid of UNICEF every year on eve of the birth anniversary of India’s First Prime Minister Shri. Jawaharlal Nehru.
