Russian woman raped in Tiruvannamalai

Too many things come to our mind when we remember the temple town Tiruvannamalai. The Arunachal mountain, the Ashram of Ramana Maharshi, the tallest temple of Lord Shiva... would all fill us with a sense of admiration. But crime has not boundaries and no exemptions. That’s the reason why a 21 year old Russian national was raped in the town. The woman who came on a pilgrimage was allegedly drugged and gang-raped in a service apartment. She was then taken to the hospital in an unconscious situation. The police has detained six people regarding the incident and the probe is on the way. The incident has shocked the town which is often flocked by foreign nationals to visit the temple and the Ashram.
