A Statewide bandh was called by Maratha Kranti Morcha after the suicide of a young man demanding reservation for the Maratha community. The death of the youngster has led to heightening tensions in the state. Even the local legislators were not allowed by the protestors to the visit the dead body. Dharna’s and pelting of stones were being reported across the state. Government fears that the situation could run out of hand if today’s bandh turns violent. The latest incident is certainly a challenge to the BJP led state government which is already facing criticism from its own ally Shiv Sena. The protestors from Maratha Kranti Morcha were also aiming their guns at the state government for its inability to grant reservations for their community.
