In some of these pre-built homes and apartments there are some spaces where you feel that they have no purpose or are wasted for want of utility because of the lack of proper design or there might be one oddly shaped corner. These cannot be rectified as they have already been designed so the next best thing you could do is to convert these spaces into an asset.
You could simply transform these spaces with a few add on pieces like a piece of storage furniture item or a nice wall piece or painting depending on the space.
If the space has a window then you could look out try putting a nice shade or blind or curtains to enhance that corner of the room. Place a small side table with an artifact or statue or a figurine of your choice.
You could also look at placing a Bonsai plant or a general planter for giving it a green look. Try using the principles of feng shui to enhance the energies of that corner.
Now if the space is big enough to accommodate a couch or chair you could buy a nice big chair where you can sit and read with an interesting lamp shade next to it.
The other aspect is to create a nice collage of your family photographs and put them up in a random manner. Or one big painting where you could add a focus light to highlight the painting. The trend of using multiple to differently designed mirrors is also an option you could consider.
If you have some books that you refer to periodically you can create symmetrical or zig zag shelves and display your books.
Effective usage of these spaces all depends on how create you are and how differently you can decorate these spaces.
