Half of the farmers in deep debt

Farmers and debt always have a long and sad relation together. This relation often ends along with the ruining of the entire life of the said farmer. Mirroring this fact a report from NABARD has released a survey. NABARD has found that 52.5% of the agricultural households had an outstanding loan. For non- agricultural households it was just 42%. And that’s not the only surprise found with the survey! The average debt of an indebted agricultural household stood at 1,04,602 Rs. in comparison to just 76,731 Rs. for non-agricultural households. The biggest reason for the debts of farmers is said to be the investment for their farming. Sadly the Telugu speaking  States of Telangana (79%), Andhra Pradesh (77%) are found with highest percentage of debts.
