Can the Majilis spread their wings?

The Hyderabad based MIM - Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen(MIM) party has always shown its leanings towards the Congress and CPI, and for brief period stopped this because of Kiran Kumar Reddy. Now that he is no more the poster boy of Congress, the MIM have started their campaign trail slowly and steadily. But what needs to be seen is that their stronghold being the Old city which they have time and again tried to move beyond has flopped. The recent tryst to enter Gulbarga and Thane, looking at the substantial Muslim population there has led to a failure as they have been barred from entering these places. The same was in the case at Azamgarh in UP too.

The recent news is that   supremo Asaduddin Owaisi has been barred from entering Mumbra in Thane district of Maharashtra, after police claimed his visit could cause communal flare-ups in the area. He is to visit this place in February 9th and the police have served restraining orders at his home preventing him from entering this place till February 10th.His younger brother MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi‘s infamous hate speeches in 2012 disparaging Hindus and Hindu beliefs, which ultimately led to his arrest in 2013 and subsequent release on bail on 16 February 2013 has led to negative publicity against the party which has led to the hindrance of the MIM party to spread its wings further.

It also needs to be seen whether Akbaruddin Owaisi who is out free and is still under trial for sedition, criminal conspiracy, spreading communal hatred, waging war against India and some other charges for inciting communal violence comes out and whether he can or will  also  contest this 2014.Now with MIM trying to forge alliances with the TRS to propagate themselves in Telangana and  the Congress in Seemandhra we need to see what bears fruit.
