Mallanna (Vikram)
is a sincere IPS officer working in the financial offences wing of
CBI. His chief (Krishna) co-operates with him. Iin the ancient
temple of Mallappa, devotees believe that the deity fulfills their
wishes written on a slip and hung to a tree in the temple vicinity.
Wife of a patient in need of sixty thousand rupees conveys her wish
to the temple deity – Mallappa. She receives the money the very
next morning. When a police officer grabs the money from her,
Mallanna comes in the guise of a cock at night and beats him. Money
reaches the needy one. When the word reaches the crowd, all begin to
follow the trend of writing their wishes on slips and hang them.
A
police officer Paramdham (Prabhu) wants to test the truth of this
practice Mallanna officially raids the house of PPP – Palnati
Paranjyoti Punyamurthy (Ashish Vidyarthi) and
ends up with the moolah. Stunned by this sudden attack, Punyamurthy
falls ill with paralysis. His daughter Subbalakshmi wants to take
revenge on Mallanna for this. She decides to act as in love with him.
Paramdham too continues his search for the real god behind the
happenings. Mallanna's previous enemy Raj Mohan (Mukhesh
Tiwari) and Punyamurthy together plan a scheme and catch
Mallanna on record. They put a condition that Mallanna should share
his theft money with them to give him the recorded evidence.
Meanwhile Mallana gets the news that a large amount of money is
changing hands in Mexico and asks PPP to take care of arrangements
for his journey. PPP's daughter Subbalakshmi accompanies Mallanna to
Mexico and PPP makes arrangements to kill Mallanna there. What
happens to Mallanna ..? does Paramdham succeed in his hunt..? What
happens to Raj Mohan & PPP.. has to be seen on the silver screen.
Analysis
Director Susi Ganeshan should have
taken care about the screenplay in stead of concentrating on taking
and building up the plot. Weak screenplay and bad editing spoils the
real entertainment of the flick. Even Mallanna's entry is not up to
the mark. How Mallanna manages to fly and fight with his opponents
and how his colleagues collaborate with him is not explained
satisfactorily. Its very unfortunate that an exuberant producer like
Kalaipuli Thanu and a talented actor like Vikram, a grand budget of
50K, shot in five countries, in five languages in a strech of two
years fails to reach the expectations of the audience. It is very
fortunate for Susi Ganeshan to get the chance to direct such a grand
film and at the same time it is very unfortunate that he didn't
utilize it.
